Our Story

Moss Y Más was founded by me, Jonathan, in 2023 in Austin, TX. I first found my love for terrariums in 2021. What started as making one terrarium quickly grew into a full blown obsession. Over time, I taught myself the fundamentals of terrarium creation and after a few years, I was eager to share my love of the craft with those around me. My main goal is always to introduce new people to the artistry and simplicity of terrariums.

That’s me, Jonathan!

One of the questions I get asked the most is “What is a terrarium?”. I primarily make “sealed terrariums”, using various mosses and tropical plants inside of a sealed container. This essentially creates a mini water cycle within the glass, allowing them to recycle their own water and nutrients inside of the container. Because of this, terrariums are very easy to take care of, often going many months or even years between watering.

I work primarily with upcycled containers, mixing my love of thrifting and antiquing to create truly one of a kind terrariums.

My favorite question to ask myself is “Can I turn this into a terrarium?” and I am determined to make some of the most unexpected terrariums you’ve ever seen. Stay tuned, because we have A LOT planned for 2026!!

More about me! I’m a 1st generation Mexican-American and I was born and raised in Austin, TX. Outside of plants, I am a huge nerd, (very) amateur mycologist, love Dungeons & Dragons, AJR and baking! You’ll usually find me working on terrariums in my home studio while listening to a podcast, driving from thrift store to thrift store looking for new glassware, or slinging terrariums at a local market in ATX (or sometimes elsewhere)!

That’s all! Thank you for checking us out and I can’t wait to see y’all out there!
